Digital Marketing

Yawn Marketing, a Jarrold company, is a marketing agency based in Norwich. We’re on the lookout for an enthusiastic marketing generalist to join us as a Digital Marketing Consultant.

We have a broad roster of high-profile local and national clients, and, following our acquisition by the Jarrold Group in 2024, provide marketing consultancy and delivery for in-group businesses. Given this exciting time in our journey, we’re in need of a new team member to help us continue to deliver a level of service that exceeds their expectations.

We’re a small team of knowledgeable, energetic and creative marketers with expertise across a range of disciplines. This role is an opportunity to take a key position in helping us shape our future, grow with the business, and meaningfully contribute to our brand.

If you’re currently a marketing executive ready to take the next step, or you’re in a more senior role but still enjoy being hands-on, this could be a great fit. We’re looking for someone who’s comfortable managing multiple projects or brands at once, confident in shaping plans, and equally happy rolling up their sleeves to deliver them.

About You

To succeed here at Yawn, you will have…

  • A generous team spirit - we all pull together here at Yawn.
  • An eye for detail - you'll be able to spot a double space or a button that's a pixel off-centre from a mile off.
  • Creativity in bucket loads - out business is all about ideas. Everyone in our team needs to know what a good one looks like.
  • Excellent communication skills - whether writing copy or talking with a client, you'll need to be engaging.
  • An enterprising attitude - it's a cliche, but we really do need go-getters.
  • Versatility - good marketers will always adapt and develop their skills. The digital landscape is always changing, and we need to change with it.
  • An analytical mind - you needn't be a maths enthusiast, but our marketing decisions are informed by cold, hard data. There will be spreadsheets.
  • Great organisation - you'll need to be able to juggle deadlines, tasks, and priorities from the get-go.

Overview of Role

The role of Digital Marketing Consultant sits within Yawn Marketing’s service delivery team, supporting our clients in the delivery of a wide range of digital marketing activities across multiple channels. With a broad remit and variety of clients, you’ll contribute both strategic thinking and hands-on delivery across key areas, such as email marketing, social media, website updates, SEO, copy and content creation, and paid media, to help drive meaningful results. You’ll also have the opportunity to further develop your strategic approach, with support from senior team members.

As a small agency with a pragmatic, boutique mentality, we encourage every team member to bring ideas to the table and to take ownership of the work they deliver. You’ll support and shape how our services are delivered, suggest process improvements, and contribute to the success of both client projects and the wider agency.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing Services and supporting client leads, the Digital Marketing Consultant is a key player in the provision of high-quality marketing outputs for our clients.

Hours and Benefits

  • Full-time, permanent, flexible working with up to two days at home per week.
You must be based in Norwich, or within easy commutable distance, as our office is in Norwich city centre.
  • 27 days annual holiday plus bank holidays; with one extra day of holiday per year completed (up to a maximum of 29 days holiday).
  • Jarrold Group colleague discount and benefits, including Group discounts at other local businesses.
    Free workday city centre parking.
Enhanced employer pension contribution following successful probation.
  • £28k-£32k dependent on experience and expertise.

Core Responsibilities

As a Digital Marketing Consultant at Yawn, your primary role will be focused on the execution of marketing services. You’ll work with our client leads to develop and implement tactical marketing plans and larger strategic projects that cover a range of channels and marketing activities in combination to support defined strategic aims.

This is predominantly a hands-on delivery role, however, as a small agency, with a client roster with diverse needs, there will be client-facing aspects.

Working as part of a close-knit team, you’ll be helping to build long-term relationships with the agency’s retained clients and deliver high-quality service to support retention and upsell opportunities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Multi-channel marketing delivery - Deliver activity across key channels, including email, social, websites, SEO, copywriting and content for both campaign and always-on activity.
  • Planning and Strategy - Work with account managers and clients to shape and refine channel strategies and tactical plans.
  • Service development - Support the evolution of our digital marketing services, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, effectiveness and delivery.
  • Client communications - Liaising with and updating clients, gathering the information and content needed to keep activity moving, and working closely with account managers to deliver against plan.
  • Analysis and reporting - Monitor performance and help produce clear, actionable reports, using data to inform recommendations and next steps.
  • Training and workshops - Support and, where appropriate, lead training sessions, workshops and presentations, including developing supporting materials.
  • Testing and optimisation - Identify opportunities to improve performance through ongoing testing and optimisation- valuing small, incremental wins.
  • Internal training and knowledge sharing - Share expertise, support team development, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
  • Agency marketing - Support the promotion of Yawn's services through email, website, social, and content activity that showcases our expertise.
  • Business development - Contribute to audits, proposals and other growth activity, bringing ideas and identifying opportunities to add value.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of three years' experience in a generalist marketing role, working across multiple projects or clients at a time. You don't need experience in every area covered in this role. We'll provide training and support to fill gaps - but ideally, you'll have some level of experience in most.
  • Agency experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong, demonstrable creative copywriting skills are also highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role is an advantage.
  • Experience in areas such as eCommerce, campaign planning, paid media management, SEO and CRO are an advantage but are not specific requirements for this position.
