About the Role
Frieze is the leading global organization for art and culture, producing internationally acclaimed fairs in London, New York, Los Angeles, Seoul and Abu Dhabi, alongside Frieze Masters, The Armory Show and EXPO Chicago, as well as a year-round programme of editorial, events and partnerships.
We are seeking an organised and enthusiastic Communications Assistant to support the planning and execution of all Communications activities at Frieze. This is a full-time role at the heart of Frieze’s global Communications team. You’ll sit within the Communications department, reporting directly to the Senior Communications Manager, and your work will have direct impact on how Frieze engages with media and press audiences worldwide.
As the primary support across the Communications team, you’ll be responsible for maintaining media lists, managing press materials, and tracking coverage across Frieze’s international programme of fairs and events. This is a hands-on position for someone who thrives on organisation, attention to detail, and fast-paced work in a world-leading arts organisation. If you’re passionate about contemporary art and culture — and you bring sharp administrative skills and a proactive attitude — this role was built for you.
This is a full-time permanent role and qualified candidates must be based in London (Surrey Street).
What Success Looks Like:
- Media lists, press archives, and editorial calendars are consistently accurate and up-to-date, providing the team with reliable tools for all campaigns.
- Media coverage is tracked and reported proactively, with key stories and opportunities flagged promptly to senior team members.
- Press enquiries, image requests, and accreditation administration are handled efficiently and professionally across all Frieze fairs and events.
- Team meetings run smoothly, communications materials are produced to a high standard, and no errors reach external stakeholders.
What You’ll Own:
- Maintain and update accurate media lists, editorial calendars, press release archives, clip books, and image libraries
- Serve as first point of contact for [email protected], managing image requests, flagging key enquiries, and responding in a timely manner
- Lead on tracking media coverage and PR metrics, producing daily clips reports and bespoke clip books for campaigns and fairs
- Administer media accreditation and invitations for Frieze events, managing RSVPs and supporting the production of press packs
- Distribute communications materials including press releases and briefing notes, and provide research support for campaigns
- Participate in brainstorming and planning sessions; oversee team agendas, meeting notes, and action points
- Proof all communications materials to ensure accuracy, and cultivate relationships with stakeholders across the wider arts and media industry
- Collaborate daily with the US-based Communications Assistant to align on priorities and maintain efficient cross-timezone working processes
- Work closely with the wider Communications team — including Branded Content and Social Media — to ensure cohesive, joined-up approaches across all communications activity
What You Bring:
- Some previous experience working in a communications team or related field
- High attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to manage time and priorities, comfortable working to tight deadlines
- Confident team player able to work towards shared goals in a fast-paced environment
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms
- Degree in a related subject or equivalent professional experience
- Desirable: interest in art criticism, media, or the art world more broadly
