Visitor Marketing PR and Content Manager
Ref: PRCM(24)/FMC – R2
Location: Slimbridge, Gloucester with the opportunity for hybrid working
Salary: £33,403 to £36,000 per annum dependent on experience
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday
This is the charity for wetlands and wildlife. They run 9 wetland nature sites across the UK including household names such as Slimbridge, Martin Mere, and the London Wetland Centre, which help them to raise awareness of wetlands and their wildlife as well as generate an income for them.
About the role
One of their three big strategic ambitions is to inspire more people to value, act for, and benefit from wetlands, and this role is significant in helping them achieve that. By raising awareness of what they can offer visitors at their wetland sites, you’ll grow their audience, and take hundreds of thousands of people on their first step towards a deeper love of nature and wildlife.
You’ll lead on national visitor PR. And, because their wetlands are located throughout the UK, you’ll also guide and support colleagues based at those sites to strengthen their PR and content offering for their local catchments.
As a charity and visitor attraction, they seek to engage several audiences, in order to meet the goals of various internal teams. The ability to see where the visit proposition fits best in the supporter journey and understand their overall strategic approach will be critical to your success in this role.
The role sits within their Fundraising, Marketing and Communications directorate, reporting to the Visitor Marketing Manager in the central team. You’ll have the support of a small team dedicated to visitor marketing – a Digital Marketing Manager, a Marketing Campaign Manager, and a Marketing Executive – as well as working closely with colleagues from across the directorate.
About you
They are looking for someone with the experience to develop a PR and Content strategy that will build awareness and strengthen their proposition for visitors. They need someone with the confidence to build strong, supportive relationships with colleagues across their UK locations, as well as with contacts in the media.
You will bring:
- Knowledge and experience of best and current practices to their PR and content activity.
- Experience of building strong relationships with the media as well as a strong and engaged following on social media.
- Adept knowledge of working collaboratively across their marketing teams and multi-sites.
- Superb organisational skills, and the clear sight and confidence to make sense of a complex picture.
You will join a warm and encouraging team, and a charity that not only contributes to more sustainable future but the enjoyment of many who appreciate wildlife.
About the organisation
This is the charity for wetlands and wildlife.
The natural world is in trouble. But there’s a wondrous solution. You’ll find it wherever water meets land.
Wetlands are super-powered ecosystems. They teem with wildlife, buffer us from floods, purify our water, lift our mood and sink carbon. But we are losing them at a staggering rate.
That’s why they’re on a mission to restore wetlands and unlock their power, and empower everyone to do the same. This is a charity that is actively restoring wetlands in the UK and globally. But they can’t do it alone. Every action they take together, large or small, will help wetlands burst with life once more. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish.
What they offer
In return for your hard work and dedication, you will enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
- 33 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays, increasing to 38 days after 5 years’ service
- Contributory pension scheme matching up to 7%
- Life assurance providing 3 times annual salary
- Access to a wide range of resources to support your health and wellbeing including our 24/7
