THE CHALLENGE SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT…

We are so proud of what we do, and we know you will be too. Communication and media are absolutely key to making the Hospice the incredible place it is. And you could be part of that.

With a rich, diverse history, which began back in 1979 with our founders, we’ve been making a difference ever since.

Today our free care supports 2,000 local people and their families, in Herts and Bucks. We truly are a community hospice – built and funded by the community, to serve the community.

We’re in the business of engaging, innovating and transforming our comms approach. In the last year, we’ve driven a 120% increase in online donations, grown our social media following by 30%, improved our email click-through rate and developed the use of new media platforms. So, if you want to be part of that journey, then you’ve come to the right place.

SO, WHERE DO YOU COME IN?

People are at the heart of everything we do. And you would be no different. We are all vital cogs in delivering our care and support. We’re looking for a Media and Marketing Assistant to unpin our evolving approach to communications and media.

If you are someone who has the ability to write effectively, juggle multiple projects at the same time, build productive and lasting relationships with staff, supporters, the media and the local community… then we’d love to hear from you!

Our new Media and Marketing Assistant will help fuel an ‘ideas culture’ (no idea is a bad idea!), and alongside helping to create content for traditional media, you will support our analytical, data-driven approach with a digital-first commitment.

In turn, we’ll be right here to support you and your development!

THE OPPORTUNITY

As part of a creative and innovative team, this post will have a strong focus on content creation and digital marketing, notably, email marketing campaigns and website output (don’t worry we’re not expecting you to be a web developer!). The flexible role will also encompass some support for social media and copywriting for traditional media and newsletters, where applicable.

The post holder will be part of a five-strong team to help deliver and develop our internal and external communications. The role involves liaising with departments across the organisation including Fundraising, Trading, Education and Clinical.

The ‘must haves’:

- Good level of education overall; Academic qualifications including GCSEs and A-Levels to

demonstrate digital and design skills as well as writing skills

- Work experience in a marketing, digital communications, fundraising or clinical setting,

with the ability to create string digital content, plus writing and copy-editing skills

- Demonstrable social media skills

- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

- Act as an ambassador for the Hospice at all times #ProudToWorkAtHoSF

The ‘it would be great to haves’:

- Flexible, empathetic, enthusiastic, positive attitude

- Ability to manage a number of ongoing tasks and prioritise effectively

- People-focused team player, able to relate to people at all levels

- Good sense of humour, with the ability to build rapport and trust

- Enthusiastic, energetic, resourceful, self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative

- Hold a full UK driver’s licence with your own vehicle to travel if required by the role

- Prepared to attend occasional events out of office hours

YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE

We’re not regulars on the yoga scene, but regardless, we’re flexible – and we know that might be important to you too! So, we have a flexible/hybrid working approach which we’d be happy to talk about.

- 25 days’ annual leave (plus Bank Holidays)

- Free onsite parking

- Wide range of free training courses, plus personal development opportunities

- On-site home cooked food served at a reasonable rate in our bistro

- The freedom to make decisions within the boundaries of the Job Description and charity policy and procedure

Don’t forget a stunning setting, plus #team comradery, support and bags of positivity!
