The role of a New Business Development Manager within Langton Howarth is to win new client accounts and achieve PSL status with accounts companywide/internationally. It will be heavily telephone and database driven and will consist of identifying new companies/prospective accounts in the clinical diagnostics, laboratory supplies, cell & gene therapy, CDMO, pharmaceutical and biotech verticals, and resourcing vacancies and PSL opportunities to secure repeat, long term business and revenue from these client accounts internationally. This will include intensive research into the scientific and clinical markets we serve, market mapping companies and sites within the industry, generating vacancy leads from new clients as well as existing accounts and booking in telephone appointments/face to face meetings with hiring managers/decision makers to secure PSL status and then it is for our team of delivery consultants to fill their job vacancies.

Typically, you will be conducting these types of duties every day:

  • Source vacancies/opportunities to recruit for new companies using the internet/social media such as LinkedIn/the CRM system and telephone.
  • Approach existing client contacts as well as new decision makers in other countries/functions and new prospective customers directly to secure their recruiting requirements over the telephone across the UK, Europe, and North America
  • Network with existing accounts/ industry contacts to source new vacancies and secure telephone appointments for consultants to take their specific job requirements to include engineering/IT, sales, marketing, technical support, finance, customer service from trainee to board level appointments
  • Find vacancy leads to convert into money making opportunities through social media/competitor awareness and networking activities
  • Book in telephone appointments with the Director/Clients to convert into live jobs for our recruitment team to fill.
  • Updating & maintaining the database with client details
  • Whilst the role is telephone/office based out of our fabulous Harrogate office on Hornbeam Park, there will be the opportunity to attend industry/trade conferences in the UK and overseas as well as to attend client meetings to secure new business. We want someone to be in the face of the customer and truly build relationships and win preferred supplier status with key corporate accounts. A full valid UK driving license and passport is required alongside a willingness to travel and pitch to C and D suite level decision makers to win new accounts/PSL status.

You will be liaising with a diverse range of professional people across all functional disciplines found in a scientific supplies/clinical diagnostic/medical device company to C and D suite level, obtaining as much information as possible to sign new recruitment service contracts and become Preferred Suppliers to new companies.

Your sales personality should be a hunter/closer with excellent communication/ negotiation skills and a confident demeanour to close deals over the telephone.

You will be adept at using the internet and search engines and websites. You will also have a real passion for generating and winning new business/accounts within a recruitment company. Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal is necessary. A sparkling personality with a real flair for collaborating with people and strong people skills, plus the right attitude is essential to join our motivated, high energy and positive team. Degree educated in a Life Science related discipline such as Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Engineering or HND Level in Life Science or equivalent would be a distinct advantage but not essential. However, we recruit individuals with the “extra factor” with 2 + years’ work experience in a targeted B2B, recruitment business.
