Job Description
Adept are working with a steel stockholder who are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their team based in Barnsley. The Engineer must be a motivated and experienced individual with expertise in fork trucks, side loaders, and shunters. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic systems, capable of handling breakdowns and servicing independently or as part of a team. This role may also require working on other machines within the factory, and occasional travel between sites may be necessary.
**Hours of Work:**
- Monday to Thursday: 7:15 AM to 4:00 PM, Friday: 7:45 AM to 2:00 PM
Some flexibility for working outside these hours will be required from time to time.
**Role Purpose:**
The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for servicing and repairing fork trucks, side loaders, and Combi Lifts across multiple sites. Additionally, this role will involve mechanical and hydraulic repairs to site machines.
**Qualifications:**
- Level 2 Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Level 2 Diploma in Plant Machinery Maintenance
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering
- HNC in Mechanical Engineering
**Skills & Knowledge:**
- Proficiency in diesel engines
- Mechanical fitting expertise
- Strong understanding of hydraulics
- Electrical fault-finding skills
- Mechanical fault-finding capabilities
- Basic welding proficiency
- Ability and willingness to apply knowledge to various types of machinery
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Proven track record of seeing jobs through to completion
- Team player capable of fitting into an already established team
