Babergh District Council have an exciting opportunity for an Events Coordinator to join our Economy and Business team based in Suffolk. You will join us on a full time (37 hours per week) fixed Term or Secondment Opportunity for 2 years. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £25,878 - £31,099 per annum (pro rata for part time).
About the Events Co-ordinator role:
This highly organised and motivated role will lead on coordination and support for festivals and events across the two districts, working within the Economy and Climate Change Service but liaising closely with other Council departments, existing attractions, cultural organisations and key partners.
Their role will help to boost the visitor economy and enable more people to access leisure, culture and heritage whilst increasing footfall and spend in our market towns and attractions.
What you will be doing as our Events Co-ordinator:
- Arrange business-to-business meetings in relation to events and tourism initiatives and promotion.
- Develop of a standard ‘how to’ guide for small-medium scale events planning, using the Purple Book as a standard guide.
- Work with partners to support and enable an events programme which is ‘of place’ and grows local talent.
- Prioritise local support and supply chain to improve sustainability of temporary events.
- Assist in attracting sponsorship and liaise with national and regional agencies and charities to source funding.
About you
- to be educated to A level or equivalent or demonstrate appropriate experience gained in a similar working environment.
- possess experience of successful delivery of events, marketing Plans, projects and campaigns.
- have experience of working with local community and business/other groups.
- hold knowledge of tourism, arts, culture or heritage issues, locally, regionally and nationally.
- have experience of project management ideally within a digital / marketing context.
- possess sound organisational skills and the ability to organise your own workload seeking supervision when needed.
- written and verbal communication skills that include basic persuading, influencing, informing, explaining, listening and understanding.
- have the ability to contribute to the writing of reports.
- be open to learning new things, working in new and different ways, sharing ideas and be open to the ideas of others.
- have the ability to contribute to projects drawing on resources from across both districts and external partners.
- possess a good understanding of culture and tourism sector and market trends.
