Commercial Insight Manager

Department: Sales & Marketing

Location: Home and office based

Contract: Full-Time and Permanent

To develop and maintain the insight that drives the understanding of the performance and effectiveness of the business

The main responsibility of this role is to develop and maintain the insight that drives the understanding of the performance and effectiveness of the business focusing on commercial recruitment. This includes insight into the customer cycles and funnels - communicating and managing this insight through key relationships within marketing and the wider business ensuring it is being used to understand and improve performance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Developing a strong understanding of BPP proposition, products, and processes – being a reliable source of information for the business
  • Developing and maintaining a suite of insight reports, focusing on key business performance indicators that drive revenue across BPP Group
  • Harnessing the insight to build robust models that forecast expected recruitment volumes
  • Using the forecasts created to validate opportunities and raise any risks to achieving BPP Groups 5-year plan, pro-actively identifying areas of insight that can improve performance
  • Ensuring meaningful insights are produced and communicated back to the business with an appropriate level of detail for the audience. Including a deep understanding of key milestones in a customer’s life cycle, both B2B and B2C, and their impacts on the key business commercials
  • Converting group forecasts into meaningful targets for departments across BPP, assisting attaining these targets with monitoring reporting
  • Partnering with finance to ensure forecasts are being used effectively to convert volumes into revenue in line with our budgeting processes
  • Enhancing commercial insight by identifying new data sources and analytical techniques that can add value and impact
  • Delivering and shaping the Commercial Insight roadmap, and driving prioritisation of the work required in this area
  • Using the data quality framework to improve data quality at BPP, identifying and implementing areas where it can have a positive impact
  • Working closely with other teams as a champion of insight and data usage, aiming towards a one best way for BPP. This should include managing wider meeting and taking responsibility for the insight actions
  • Ensuring all insight created is being used effectively around the business, and that there is a mechanism of feedback to allow continuous improvement
  • Managing a team of analysts to deliver the Commercial Insight Roadmap effectively as well as facilitate their career development
  • Contributing to the wider Data Intelligence Team and wider initiatives across the business, supporting BPP’s data strategy

What we’re looking for

  • Hold a relevant degree that involves a high level of Statistics or Operational Research (Or equivalent work experience)
  • Experience of data manipulation and mining in a previous role
  • Experience in building and maintaining insight reports
  • Working experience in a commercially driven marketing or finance team
  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills
  • Accurate, persistent with excellent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and proactive individual with the drive to succeed
  • Committed to continuous self-development and learning
  • Strong communication skills, ability to translate technical conversations for multiple audiences as well as communicating high level strategy concisely
  • Highly effective organisational skills
  • Proven track record of delivering to deadlines, with the ability to use resource effectively and creatively
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with stakeholders to deliver business goals
  • Skills in building reports in reporting tools such as Tableau, Power BI etc.
  • Well-developed problem-solving ability, consistent approach to establish root causes of an issue and then establish creative solutions.
