Hatfield, Hertfordshire (and Hybrid Working)

We're the UK's leading charity for Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis.

Right now, an estimated 500,000 people in the UK are living with a lifelong disease that many people have never heard of and for which there is no known cure. Because of the stigma and misunderstanding surrounding these diseases, thousands of people are suffering in silence. But they're not alone. We're here for them. And we're not going anywhere until we've beaten Crohn's and Colitis for good.

We’re now looking for a Communications Manager to support our important work and join our team on a full-time basis, working 35 hours per week.

- Salary of £32,000 - £35,000 per annum

- Annual leave entitlement of 25 days per year (increasing by one day for each year worked up to 30 days)

The Role

As the Communications Manager, you will deliver professional communications for our charity building our profile and engaging the public in our vision and mission.

Increasing the public understanding of Crohn's and Colitis, you will publicise our work in health services development, medical research, seeking to enhance income generation and deliver high profile campaigns.

By facilitating a range of communications activities, you will assist us in reaching out to Crohn’s and Colitis patients nationwide, strengthening our community, as well furthering the public’s understanding of the disease.

You will strive to continuously increase our profile and generate media coverage with the intent of procuring further support from celebrities and Ambassadors.

Additionally, you will offer suggestions as to how we may improve our internal processes, enabling our communication content to remain robust and consistent.

About You

To be considered as the Communications Manager, you will need:

- Demonstrable evidence of developing, implementing and evaluating high profile, innovative and ambitious multi-media strategies and securing effective media coverage

- Substantial copywriting experience

- Experience of working in a busy media team

- Experience of budgeting and financial management, as well as supervising staff

- Experience of building partnerships with influencing stakeholders and establishing and maintaining strong networks

- Experience of leading, developing and implementing communication strategies

- Experience of working with external creative agencies to meet deadlines and ensure good value for money

- A strong understanding of how a brand should be applied across the organisation in all internal and external communications

- Excellent writing and editing skills

- Strong interpersonal skills and skills in motivating others
