As Communications Officer you'll be joining a small but talented and ambitious Communications Team, to play a leading role in raising brand awareness and increasing engagement with existing and new audiences around our life-saving work and new Five-Year Strategy - Working Together to Save More Lives.

You’ll be a self-motivated, organised and creative individual looking to make a big difference within the communities we serve and working with peers across the UK to help champion the work of the air ambulance community.

Main responsibilities:

  • Support on the development and effective implementation of a staff intranet through SharePoint
  • Support the CEO and Senior Leadership Team’s internal communications, including writing and distributing a weekly internal digital newsletter.
  • Develop and deliver impactful communications and campaigns across a variety of channels, including externally with engaging media stakeholders, to inspire the public to support us, through to internally engaging and motivating our teams.
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders across the Charity to have a finger on the pulse of the organisation's internal communications needs and feed these into our communication plans.
  • Work closely with HR to develop communications around our recruitment and onboarding process.
  • Tailor communications effectively for various audience groups including media, supporters, high value givers, Trustees, volunteers and staff, split across the three KSS bases.
  • Working with the wider MarComms Team, lead on generating and developing content for our communications and campaigns, including photography, videos, crew and patient quotes.
  • Measure, track and evaluate our communications activities, and provide a monthly report on successes and areas for development.
  • Undertake other duties relevant to the post and, where necessary, assist with other areas of work as required

About you:


  • Experience in implementing and managing an intranet site, ideally on Sharepoint
  • Experience in advising colleagues in communications approach, ensuring all messaging is consistent and actively underpins strategic goals
  • Experience of developing and deliver engaging and impactful campaigns across a variety of channels
  • Experience of building and nurturing stakeholder relationships
  • Experience of translating complex messages and updates into simple, accessible communications
  • Experience of managing a busy workload and being able to prioritise tasks accordingly
  • Knowledge or interest in the charity sector and air ambulance sector
