We are hiring on behalf of a fine chemicals manufacturer in Manchester for a Business Development Executive. This is a role suitable for someone with chemical or technical sales experience, who is very commercially aware, driven, and sales focussed. The client is a long established fine chemicals business with a strong market reputation which is also expanding, this is a very exciting time to join the business and an opportunity exists to take your career in commercial chemistry many steps ahead!

What you’ll do:

You will be working in business to business sales and reporting to the Head of Sales and Marketing.

The company manufactures a range of aromatic, heterocyclic and aliphatic compounds amongst other chemical products and are in a developed market position with a reputation for unrivalled service and expertise in sourcing of chemical products. You will be carrying out the following key tasks:

  • Researching businesses, individuals, and industry trends to identify, engage and win new business.
  • Contacting and meeting with new clients.
  • Preparing presentations and sales material to support delivering new business objectives.
  • Ability to align our product offering and services to the needs of new clients.
  • Sell through discovery and providing new solutions.
  • Enabling buying through making it easy for customers to trade with us.
  • Contacting and presenting to new or “warm” leads through sales calls/ visits.
  • Attending conferences, exhibitions, or on-site customer visits both within the UK and internationally.
  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment ensuring that both departmental and individual targets are adhered to.
  • Producing, creating, and completing internal and external reports.
  • Supporting the wider sales team.
  • Be an ambassador for the company with a customer facing role.

Your background:

  • Experience in a B2B development role.
  • Experience within the chemical industry and a science related degree is desirable.
  • Excellent people person and confident building relationships.
  • Good listener able to understand a client’s needs.
  • Strong customer focus and high commercial awareness.
  • Relishes working towards and achieving targets.
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently or work effectively with colleagues offering support and contributing to a cohesive team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, forward thinking, excellent problem solver and strong communicator.

The role will initially be inside sales while training and move to a role where time with customers will be more and more of the working week. A driving licence is essential. We will be expecting the person to be working from the Manchester office however an experienced chemical B2B sales professional based in another area, especially Oxford or Cambridge could be of interest for a remote home-based role.
