Events Officer - £22-£25k - Public Sector - Glasgow - Contract until April 2022

You will be working within a public sector based organisation in Glasgow as their new Events Officer. This is a contract position covering a secondment until April 2022.
Your new role
To develop, manage and deliver a variety of events with particular but not exclusive focus on wedding ceremonies. The Events Officer will not only provide specialist knowledge and advice to clients but will also co-ordinate the activities of support services (both internal and external) through ensuring the correct services have been engaged and are fully briefed on what is required and expected in order to deliver successful events.
What you'll be doing
Manage the full enquiry and planning process for each event by being the main key contact for clients and service providers alike, effectively planning and organising all matters related to the event such as (but not exclusively) venue, appropriate staffing and support services, thus ensuring successful delivery.
Manage all administrative and financial aspects of the event, including ensuring the events database is accurate, issuing contracts/event summaries, raising invoices, banking payments and managing any overdue payments. As a departmental purchasing officer, the post holder will be responsible for ensuring all policies and procedures are followed and will raise requisitions, create purchase orders and record goods received.
Closely liaise with clients to ascertain precise requirements, advising on the feasibility of these and suggesting solutions and/or alternatives to ensure the successful delivery of each event whilst also advising organisers on all relevant University policies and procedures (e.g. health and safety) and ensuring that the event does not contravene any of these policies and procedures.
What you'll get in return
Flexible working options available. You will work a mix of office and remotely. This role will involve some weekend but the hours per week are 35 hours. This wont be every weekend. You will be paid a salary £22-£25k via hourly rate. This will be a contract until April 2022.
