Communications Executive

Summary of role

This is a busy and varied role providing marketing and communications support to our award winning legal teams across our UK and overseas offices. Assisting two busy communications managers, the successful candidate will have responsibility for editing and proofing wide ranging written content across all our marketing channels, so excellent writing and editorial skills really are a must. We are also looking for a team member with a flair for design who enjoys working with desktop publishing packages. The communications executive will have a good understanding of social media channels and be keen to develop video, podcast and webinar skills as we look to produce more of this content in-house.

Main responsibilities include:

Website content

  • Editing articles and case studies on topical legal issues and developments
  • Updating the website with a range of information, including news items, events, publications, people profiles and job vacancies
  • Drafting original content for distribution both internally and externally
  • Dealing with website enquiries
  • Liaising with our website and creative agencies when required
  • Liaising with partners and fee earners for approval and managing the approval process
  • Producing Google Analytics and Lexology reports analysing the performance of the website
  • Monitoring PPC and SEO campaigns and producing rankings reports

Promotional material

  • Producing a range of marketing literature and communications, including internally produced fact sheets
  • Assisting with the production of other promotional material such as brochures, adverts and contact cards by liaising with creative agencies
  • Coordinating and producing webinars, videos and podcasts

Directory listings

  • Producing summaries of our Legal 500 and Chambers rankings and circulating these across the firm
  • Identifying appropriate quotes for use on the website and other promotional material
  • Coordinating other directory submissions eg partner profiles for The Legal 500 website

PR and social media activity

  • Drafting tweets and LinkedIn content
  • Producing accompanying graphics and sourcing images
  • Monitoring the performance of the firm’s social media accounts and providing best practice guidance to staff
  • Researching opportunities to engage with target audiences through social media channels
  • Drafting press releases and creating relevant media lists


  • Coordinating our firmwide sponsorship of the National Theatre – to include liaising with the National Theatre team and arranging tickets and hospitality for partners and other staff
  • Supporting the Penningtons Manches Cooper Foundation by attending quarterly meetings, producing leaflets and drafting intranet posts
  • Assisting within the department and undertaking any other duties reasonably required eg helping at events

Essential criteria

  • Excellent writing skills, with good grammar, punctuation and spelling. A high level of attention to detail will be advantageous
  • Ability to edit and proofread
  • Strong IT skills
  • Confidence to meet with partners to find out the right information for a story
