National Visitor Marketing Manager
Ref:
NVMM(2021)CN
Department: Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Directorate
Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday
Salary: £37,408 per annum
Location: Based at one of this charity's visitor centres or flexible

This charity is looking for someone to be their professional lead on visitor marketing. You’ll lead the development of their national visitor marketing strategy and be a source of information and inspiration for the whole organisation.

Our client is a wildlife conservation charity and one of the UK’s leading visitor attraction brands. They operate 10 nature sites across the UK, including household names such as Slimbridge, Martin Mere, and the London Wetland Centre.

The role of National Visitor Marketing Manager is central to retaining and growing their visiting audience of 1m, and helping those people take their first steps towards a deeper love of nature.

You’ll work closely with the wetland sites to develop strong propositions for each, building on their individual characters and strengths. And you’ll work seamlessly with your colleagues in the Brand & Content team to develop and deliver a visitor marketing strategy in line with the brand, and which engages people with the charity’s cause from the first moment they encounter them.

A day out at one of this charity's wetland centres is to be enjoyed, but the organisation does far more than provide a pleasant day out. They do conservation in communities around the UK and in hotspots around the world. Their cause is wetlands, and the power that lies where land and water meet – the power to store carbon, clean water, hold back flood and, most importantly, bring life. Their wetland centres are the jewels in their crown. We may live in an increasingly digital world but this organisation never underestimates the power of experience, where they can immerse visitors in nature, and also with their work and the cause, by engaging all their senses.

You’ll be a self-starter with your finger on the pulse of the visitor attraction market. And they need someone with plenty of energy – you’ll want to build your network across the sites and central teams quickly. In return, you’ll find a warm welcome, a supportive and passionate bunch of colleagues, and never a dull day!

About the Employer

Our client is the UK’s leading wetland conservation charity. They are pioneers in saving threatened wetland wildlife, a centre for excellence in conservation science and experts in wetland management and creation. Around a million visitors a year engage with wetland nature at their ten centres around the UK, and they work nationally and internationally in key locations to balance conservation with sustainable livelihoods.

They have recently completed a review of their strategic priorities which includes ambitious targets for developing bigger and better wetlands, encouraging more people to take direct action for these unique places, and ensuring decision makers around the world realise the essential role wetlands play in restoring nature, slowing climate change and enhancing health and wellbeing.

In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:

  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
  • Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
  • Life assurance
  • Free car parking and secure bike storage areas
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Free entry to all their centres

Closing date: 2nd May 2021
First interviews: 12th & 13th May 2021
Second interviews: 19th May 2021
