Senior Communications Officer

Day rate: £200 - £250 PAYE
Start date: ASAP
Contract length: 3 months rolling

Your new role
The role will involve promoting and protecting the reputation of the borough through delivering an effective media relations strategy. You will be responsible for advising internal and external stakeholders on all media related information which will include communicating through printed media and a number of digital channels. By running a media crisis service, you will provide journalists with correct information about Cabinet members and senior officers along with information regarding the coronavirus pandemic.

What you'll need to succeed

• Experience working in the public sector in a communications position
• Previously managed press enquires and crisis communications
• Internal and external stakeholder engagement experience
• Experience using a number of different communication channels
• Experience of managing a complex workload, managing integrated communications plans
• Political sensitivity, with the ability to exercise discretion, judgement and confidentiality when dealing with journalists
• Great written and spoken communication skills
• Ability to accurately summarise and convey complex information to a diverse audience
