Category Development plays a huge role in doing this by helping create a joint vision to win and then supporting our teams to deliver on this through numerous activities across Brand and Private Label.

Reporting to the Head of Category, you will be part of a wider cross-functional team working closely with the Commercial and Marketing functions. The role demands a great deal of stakeholder involvement and engagement at various levels, so is ideal for someone who enjoys communication and building long lasting relationships.

Ultimately the role requires a curious, data driven and highly analytical individual who can turn multiple data points into coherent argumentation that they can then deliver in a simple and concise way that will resonate well with their audience.

Here’s a sample of some of the things you’ll get up to:

  • Develop compelling arguments that influence customer plans on ranging, merchandising, promotion and shopper communication.

  • Own the range review process. Develop clear recommendations that include customer/category performance, range, distribution, space & fixture layout recommendations, secondary siting solutions, promotion advice & pricing insight. Deliver this through best-in-class, engaging fact-based retailer presentations with clear rationale & size of prize for recommendations for all recommendations then follow-up to ensure these recommendations land.

Strategy & Planning (Internal)

  • Be the expert on the category and ensure the wider business is being kept abreast of current market conditions, consumer trends and key competitor activities.

  • Identify issues and opportunities in the category (pricing, promotion, NPD, activation etc.) and co-develop winning strategies around these with Marketing, Commercial and Strategy functions.

  • Ensure that the European category vison is central to our internal strategy for business growth.

Research/ Insights

  • Work with the European Insights Manager and Head of Category to identify research opportunities that can be commercially leveraged to benefit both the category and Edgewell brands.

  • Drive ROI from research by advising Commercial & Marketing teams on key business opportunities / risks to drive Edgewell’s growth across all channels. With customers co-develop and run in-store trials to identify better ways to win at fixture, give shoppers a better experience and grow the category.

Show Us What You’ve Got

Ideally you will have significant Category Management experience gained within a global commercial or FMCG business. It’s also important that you are able to work autonomously, flexibly and collaboratively with individuals and teams. Professional experience is important. But it’s paramount you share our values and belief in ‘challenge to win’.
