Hays Marketing & Communications is very proud to be working in partnership with The United Kingdom Science Park Association (UKSPA) who are a not-for-profit membership organisation based in at Chesterford Research Park in South Cambridgeshire and founded in 1984. This is a brand-new pivotal and exciting role for an Events & Marketing Manager to join their team and to help raise the profile of UKSPA and their members.

UKSPA represents, promotes and supports a diverse network of over 200 member organisations, which includes science parks, research campuses, city-based innovation districts, technology incubators and innovation centres across the UK. These members operate in different fields, with different funding and investment profiles, but together deliver enormous added value to the companies that occupy space or participate in member activities.

As the Events & Marketing Manager you will report to the Chief Executive and your main duties will be managing offline and online events, coordinating national member events, regional conferences and webinars. Manage all PR and marketing activity, social media management (LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram etc) website content management, email print and member satisfaction analysis.

The ideal candidate will be a marketing professional and have a strong background in managing successful events, large conferences and webinars. You will be a confident, enthusiastic self-starter who can multi-task, use their own initiative and work to tight deadlines. You will have excellent organisation, communication and engagement skills to be able to work with internal and external key stakeholders and provide excellent customer service.

Essential skills and experience required:

  • Proven experience in an Events & Marketing Management role
  • Experience of event delegate management tools (Eventbrite)
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Experience of organising and supporting events, both physical and virtual
  • Experience of implementing PR/Marketing strategy and activity
  • Experience of working with marketing analytics
  • Experience of marketing automation tools (Mailchimp)and reporting on analytics using SurveyMonkey
  • Experience of CRM/Membership Management Systems Administration
  • Experience of website content management systems (WordPress)
  • Knowledge of science & technology innovation ecosystems, business support (desirable not essential)

  • The UKSPA office is located at the renowned Chesterford Research Park in South Cambridgeshire. The Park offers a range of facilities including access to a fitness centre, restaurant and bar, and golf course on the site. There are also available meeting room and conference facilities on the site.

There will be a two-stage interview process:

  • 1st stage interviews will take place via Teams
  • 2nd stage interviews will be held at their offices in person where you will be asked a range of competency-based questions and be required to do a presentation (topic tbc)
