Your new role
As the senior press officer, you would be responsible for increasing awareness and positive public perception of the charity and the people it supports, by delivering high profile press coverage in line with objectives set out by the Head of Communications and communications strategy. The role is responsible for managing two Communication Officers. You would be supporting the PR needs of the various business functions across the organisation, with a strategic focus on delivering high priority engagement projects and campaigns to help raise the profile.

Key responsibilities would include:

  • Developing and delivering, in partnership with the Head of Communications, communication-led campaigns to secure high profile press coverage
  • Ensuring press releases, articles and statements are written to a high quality and have a consistent message across all media
  • Ensuring media coverage is monitored and evaluated, with insight presented to the Head of Communications and the team
  • Delivering PR campaigns, and working with the Campaigns Adviser to assist on Policy-led campaigns, to ensure the communications strategy objectives are met



What you'll need to succeed

  • Extensive experience in PR or Communications
  • Experience managing a press office Demonstrable experience in implementing effective communication plans and securing press coverage in print and online
  • Experience of developing collaborative working relationships between internal and external stakeholders Experience of handling issues on reputation management
  • A high level of communication skills, with the ability to understand and communicate complex information in an understandable and accessible format.
  • Demonstrable ability to build and maintain effective relationships with other staff and external stakeholders
  • Able to manage and prioritise the work of a team
