Job Role
Are you a talented DBA with a proactive outlook? Could you help one of the UK's largest charities with the design and technical implementation of new database solutions? If so you may be a perfect fit as a Database Administrator here at BHF.

About the role

Millions of people interact with British Heart Foundation annually and we operate a sophisticated website to provide health information those affected by heart and circulatory disease and services to supporters and others. We also have a large CRM database to keep track of interactions with our supporters so we can provide them with the most relevant information and provide them with the best service possible.

We're looking for two talented database administrators in our technology teams to ensure our systems are operating at optimum performance levels.

In a hands-on role you'll work with technology colleagues to ensure the database provision is robust, fit-for-purpose and secure, supporting database and any on-going management, reporting and business intelligence requirements.

Working with colleagues across the organisation to optimise database performance, you'll proactively address any sub-optimal database performance so that it doesn't hamper application performance and therefore business operations.

About you

We're looking for people with excellent technical skills but also great communicators with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation; clear communication and ability to work collaboratively to achieve common goals is as important as technical ability.

Responsible for the maintenance, optimisation, administration and support of BHF database infrastructure, you'll have expert knowledge of:

* Configuration and tuning of SQL Environments
* Troubleshooting and Monitoring database availability, health & performance
* Backup and restores between environments
* Upgrading SQL Servers/services where necessary
* Capacity planning

On occasion you'll also liaise with third party suppliers to assist in the support of business application databases.

Heart and circulatory disease remains an urgent issue and we believe research is the answer; with your help we believe we can Beat Heartbreak Forever.

About us

Heart and circulatory diseases kill 1 in 4 people in the UK. They cause heartbreak on every street. But if we can invent machines to restart hearts, fix arteries in newborn babies, build tiny devices to correct heartbeats, and if we can give someone a heart they weren't born with - imagine what's next.
