From the defence and aerospace sectors to marine and construction, we have an opportunity for you to bring your engineering and commercial expertise to a variety of sectors. A leading EV powertrain consultancy is looking for you to represent them as Head of Business Development.

Our client has a rich history in the automotive space. They’re working towards a more sustainable future, operating in the electrification space to advance the development of revolutionary powertrain technologies.

The role

You’ll own business development projects for short- and longer-term prospects throughout the UK, mainland Europe and key regions in Asia. You’ll build a network of trusted relationships with customers, key accounts and technical leaders and gain a deep understanding of their business needs – for which you’ll position our client as the partner of choice.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Directing wider sales and marketing channels across the globe
  • Growing the customer base and market presence in line with targets
  • Crafting compelling bids and proposals
  • Negotiating contracts and commercial terms
  • Maintaining a high level of industry expertise and competitive intelligence
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives

The requirements

You’ll have a proven track record in a business development role, preferably in a consultancy or tier 1 environment, as well as:

  • Degree educated in Mechanical, Electrical or Control system Engineering (or equivalent experience)
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of one of the following global sectors: commercial vehicle, off-highway, aerospace, marine or defence
  • Strong engineering background with experience in electrified propulsion systems, transmission and driveline, or powertrain testing
  • Detailed understanding of industry market trends and competitor capabilities
  • Excellent customer-facing skills and ability to maintain a strong personal impression
  • Strong communication, articulation and presentation skills
  • Fluent in English and French/German/Japanese/Chinese is a plus
  • High IT proficiency (including Microsoft Suite)
  • Flexible and willing to travel
