Our client is a luxury retailer and they are keen to find an amazing trade (merchandising) marketing manager.  We need someone who is a specialist rather than a generalist.  You will be creating and maintaining the brand image in stores and with the trade across 35 countries.  You will manage the company presence at trade fairs in the UK, the US, Europe and Asia.  You will need strong project management skills and to be super organised and process drive, but with the flexibility to be responsive to each individual situation.  Attention to detail with a luxury and quality edge is really important.  You may well already have worked in the retail or interiors sector.

The role will be based in central London, Fulham/Chelsea, with travel to the head office in the South West, as well as travel to new, flagship stores and the trade fairs.  Salary is in the region of £40 – 50k plus benefits.


  • Define a comprehensive trade marketing strategy, in line with the overall marketing and overall company strategy
  • Implement this strategy adequately in the various elements (store concept, fair concept, individual POS materials and assign the budget accordingly)
  • Renew on a 3-year basis the Head Office showroom and the flagship store
  • Roll-out the store concept globally, appropriate to the sales potential of individual retail partners
  • Ensure that retailers across the globe comply, as far as possible, with brand guidelines, yet at a reasonable cost in order to maximise the number of “branded doors” in the world
  • Develop, warehouse and distribute the required POS materials (foot mats, posters, sales materials, prices lists etc)
  • Manage the POS stock to ensure availability and good level of service
  • Work closely with the 3rd partied involved for storage, pick, pack U& dispatch of the POS in order to ensure a good level of service (regular meetings, constant improvement of process, definition KPIs, etc)
  • Budget, plan and manage (design, build, decorate and staff) global trade fairs
  • Supervise projects globally and manage priorities
  • Supervise the execution of the Regional Marketing Manager according to central guidelines
  • Manage the Trade Marketing Budget, centrally and in the countries


  • Total net sales and gross margin (75%)
  • Trade, press and management feedback on fairs
  • Number of doors fully updated with the latest store concept and POS guidelines
  • Maximising the numbers and quality of projects within budget constraints


  • No direct reports
  • Regional Marketing Managers have a functional report to Trade Marketing


  • University or technical degree or the equivalent
  • Relevant experience of trade marketing
  • Working knowledge of CAD systems would be a plus
  • Good analytical and communications skills
  • Experience in independent project management and result oriented
  • Ability to work in a small organisation, hands-on and team player
  • Highly organised and flexible with ability to take initiative, multitask and prioritise projects
