Business Director – Advertising Agency – Central London – to £75k + excellent benefits

Iconic central London advertising agency seeks a Business Director to work on two new win client accounts.

The lead client is in the software business and the other is in beauty.

The Agency

This is hugely exciting and pivotal time for the agency. Having gone through a period of change they now have a new management line up to deliver an awesome next 5 years for the agency.

This role offers the opportunity to be part of this new team and the success story that follows, - essentially a chance to join an agency primed for change where you will be a key part in making that change happen.

The agency want people with experience in getting to great work, but also someone whose talent, warmth and energy will galvanise and inspire others around them.

The role involves impact beyond your immediate responsibilities of Business Director. This is about being part of a start-up story with all the thrills and excitement it entails.

Business Director Role - Overview

You will have a leading role in pitches over the next few months with a view to running the piece/s of business that the agency win.

It’s a massive opportunity to build your own portfolio of high profile clients who you will challenge creatively to ensure they deliver first rate creative to make them and the agency famous.

The agency currently have a really nimble hierarchy, with only 2 other BDs in the Account Management department and direct access to the senior leadership team.

The agency are now looking for someone to play a big, senior role in the agency, and be part of driving the agency forward.

It is an entrepreneurial role and the agency are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, optimistic and has a ‘can do’ attitude. You should be a creative thinker who can help the agency exploit the opportunities on existing and yet to be won clients.

The Accounts

The agency invite you to think of joining the agency as a whole rather than specific account teams. However, there are two great accounts that you will pick up immediately. One is a beauty brand - a small but super client that the agency are at the start of a relationship with. The creative ambition is to extend a campaign launched in November and create something new towards the end of 2018.

The other account is in the software space. They are a Silicon Valley tech company whose mission is to improve the lives of people working alone or in small business, thereby driving the work economy.

The agency deliver communications across all channels and have the remit to bring the campaign to life through any channel they propose.

Further to this, the UK client is also looking for them to create a UK specific 360 campaign. This is a huge creative opportunity and the client wants their support to create a stand out UK origination campaign and help them to sell it into Global.

This client will form around 30% of your annual capacity. In short, they are looking for someone to:

  • Lead the business for the agency and deliver great creative in 2018 and throughout the 3-year contact.
  • Orchestrate response with other assigned agency partners
  • Manage the relationship with the lead global office

Business Director – Experience Required

  • Integrated experience: You have a track record of truly integrated experience, leading teams creating effective campaigns across a number of channels. Fully integrated experience is vital, and you will have worked on digital projects both contributing to strategy and execution. Though you are not responsible for technical delivery you should have knowledge of the key requirements of digital delivery, e.g. 6” bumpers, social media, websites etc.

    You will have experience working on multi-stakeholder business and are adept at influencing stakeholders both within the client organisation, internal team, agency network and client partner agencies.

  • Client relationships: You hold the senior client relationship. You must be able to “command a room” and be confident and comfortable in senior client facing situations and a strong communicator (both written and verbal) and a confident operator.  
  • Strong commercial capabilities: You must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of growing both revenue and profitability.
  • Strategic thinking: You will be able to demonstrate experience of how you have led the development of both creative and business strategic approaches and have been a senior strategic partner to top level clients. You will work with the Creative Director and Strategy Director to create a vision for the brand and ensure your team understands and buys into the vision.
  • Creativity: You should have a passion for creativity. It all starts with the big idea. It’s not digital first, TV first or DOOH first. It’s getting to the big idea and then executing it across the channels that are relevant to the brief. It is what excites you about the business. 
  • Team focused: Lead the creation of an environment of trust and value with your team. Inspire them behind your vision for the client and the agency, making clear what is expected of them.
