Head of Export
MET is delighted to be working with a leading B2C homewares business, who in recognition of recent growth and future opportunity presented by the Export Channel are now looking to recruit a Head of Export role. Broad in it's scope, the role covers Sales, Marketing and Distribution. The key remit is to lead and manage the Export Channel, devising & delivering the strategy for long term sustainable growth of a profitable channel.
·Establish, develop and execute the strategic sales & marketing plan for export, ensuring consistency and compatibility with the wider aims and aspirations of the business, and which will drive sustainable growth.
·Nurture and develop the existing Export team, driving accountability, improvement and clear KPIs. Recognise the unique geographical challenges of the export channel and marshal the team to operate efficiently and effectively. Ensure that appointed agents are managed cost-effectively to help deliver our business objectives.
·Deliver the budgeted sales target for the channel. To contribute to the annual budgetary process and ensure ongoing focus to help deliver the annual budget.
·Devise and implement a robust marketing strategy that recognises the diversity of the channel's different market streams
·Identify and develop appropriate product ranges that support the growth ambitions in the diverse global markets.
·Work with the Supply Chain and Operations team to deliver the most effective distribution channel from supplier to customer.
·Focus on the primary objective of developing branded business whilst nurturing own label if required.
·Accurate and timely forecasting is essential to business success. Ensure that the processes are understood and managed accordingly.
·Manage/visit Global customers on a regular basis in line with business requirements.
·Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a senior role within a thriving export team, and demonstrable involvement at a senior management level. You will have commercial sales/export experience within the DIY/home decoration or similar markets.
·Extensive experience within a marketing/Product role is also a key requirement.
·You must be able must be able to demonstrate strategic planning experience and success across sales (pipeline and delivery), marketing and distribution.
·You will be required to manage a total department turnover of £3m+ and growing, with full P&L accountability, and experience negotiating and improving annual customer business plans/trading terms.
·You will be skilled in building, mentoring and developing sales/national account teams - driving change and improvement, and measuring KPIs. You must also evidence the ability to influence broader decision-making across an organisation.
·The role is UK (NW) based, but significant worldwide travel is anticipated. Fluency in French, Spanish, and/or Chinese would be an advantage but not pre-requisite. Demonstration of cross-cultural awareness is a must.
