An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Communications Specialist to join an Academic Health organisation in the public sector.

Your new role

You will support communications for a new programme attempting to promote the presence, good reputation, and standing of the Programme at local, regional, national and international levels. You will work on developing and implementing communications plans for the programme as a whole and its individual workstreams. This will include producing articles and stories for a range of publications and websites targeted at audiences including staff at both trusts, the general public, local commissioners and other academic stakeholders. You will need to understand the different strategic contexts and challenges that the organisation faces. You will work in a matrix-style management, responsible to the Director, accountable to the Head of Communications but also building strong relationships with and accountable to the communications and engagement teams across the partnership. It will be expected that you will spend time working with the central communications team and the communications teams in the partner organisations in addition to the programme team to ensure a consistency and coherence of messaging and approach.

What you'll need to succeed

As this is a communications role communications/public relations experience is vital. It is preferable If you have worked in the NHS or a similarly complex, health related organisation or higher education sector. You should be able to demonstrate experience of developing and implementing story and campaign ideas and have strong influencing and persuasion skills. You should have a proven experience of creating opportunities and working collaboratively with internal and external partners and experience of managing a budget.
