Our client, a youth orientated charitable organisation, has a great opportunity for an experienced Front End Developer to join their team in Nottinghamshire.

Reporting to the Customer Insight Manager, the successful candidate will lead on the design, development, user experience (UX) and ongoing evolution of the company’s web estate including websites, CMS, multi-media and mobile development in order to improve, maintain and develop their web presence and online profile.

Key Accountabilities:

Design and development of the company website as well as numerous microsites using a Content Management System, through building and amending HTML templates, CSS and JavaScript.

Taking ownership of the company’s external web hosting and domain names, setting up new sites as needed, ensuring efficiency and minimal downtime.

Take the lead on web and CMS development projects, ensuring that current methods are fully evaluated, stakeholders are consulted and that deadlines and project objectives are met in cost effective ways.

Be the Content Management System main point of contact responsible for maintaining the system, resolving problems, responding to user queries and empowering colleagues & student groups to effectively and efficiently utilise the system.

Undertake effective communication with the 3rd party companies to ensure CMS and e-commerce platforms work seamlessly with the company’s systems and data feeds.

Work with the Marketing Team to monitor and improve the design, content and layout of digital platforms, ensuring that it remains relevant to the audience and promotes positive user engagement and experience.

Develop usability and accessibility across all websites and on all mobile devices and ensure the user experience, digital engagement journeys and brand are considered.

Present web analytic reports and where necessary, act on your report’s recommendations.  

Work with Insight Team colleagues to develop online data capture and visualisation solutions.

Produce documentation, tutorials and guidelines and support training delivery to ensure CMS users have sufficient training and resources to support them as they develop content for their areas of the website.

Knowledge and expertise:

Capacity to be the organisation’s expert in specific areas of web development and UX.

Hand-coding of JQuery, HTML, CSS and Wordpress theme development.

Strong knowledge of PHP and MySQL, or ASP.Net.

Experience of task managers such as Grunt or Gulp, and CSS pre-processors such as Sass.

Experience working with version control systems.

Experience with e-commerce.

Working knowledge of UI frameworks and libraries (bootstrap, backbone).

Experience of introducing new web based solutions, APIs and content management system modules to an organization, and liaising with technical 3rd parties to resolve problems.

Experience of project management and working to client deadlines.

High proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or equivalent graphics software package.

Understanding of the technical architecture of Content Management Systems with an ability to integrate websites with back end applications.

Demonstrable experience of designing, developing and managing websites using a content management system.

Ability to train non-technical audiences in complicated technical concepts and web systems.

Knowledge and experience of Google Analytics and reporting on web and email activity, with the ability to interpret meaningful conclusions.
