Our client, a youth orientated charitable organisation, has a great opportunity for an experienced Web Designer/Developer to join their team in Nottinghamshire.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager, you will lead on the design, development, and user experience (UX) and ongoing evolution of our client’s web estate including websites, multi-media and mobile development in order to improve, maintain and develop the company’s web presence and online profile.

The role will fully support and enable our client to meet their digital communication needs by developing new technologies and pushing brand online. You will drive the web design and development projects and contribute to updates, improvements, general design and build projects as required. This involves working closely with in-house teams and supporting groups.

Ideally you will be a hybrid Front-End Developer/Designer, comfortable working individually as well as part of a team. You will be good at hand-coding production ready HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript (JQuery) and will have previously developed and implemented a whole host of WordPress themes.

Key Accountabilities:

Design and development of the company’s website as well as numerous microsites using a Content Management System, through building and amending HTML templates, CSS and JavaScript.

Undertake effective communications and work closely with staff responsible for sections of the website to ensure the site meets their needs, providing support and guidance.

Take the lead on web and email design and development projects, ensuring that deadlines and project objectives are met. These can be in relation to campaigns or projects that include elements of digital marketing.

Undertake effective communication with the 3rd party company that produce the Membership and Content Management System to ensure it works seamlessly with the company’s systems and data feeds, and that issues are dealt with effectively.

Monitor website content ensuring that it’s relevant to the company’s audience and up to date, improving the user engagement and experience.

Provide analysis on web usage for reports and market intelligence using analytics.

Take ownership of the company’s external web hosting and domain names, setting up new sites as needed, ensuring efficiency and minimal downtime.

Develop usability and accessibility across all websites and on all mobile devices and ensure the user experience and brand is considered.

Key skills:

Educated to degree level or equivalent with relevant web design/development expertise.

Hand-coding of HTML, CSS XML and JavaScript.

Knowledge and experience of JQuery and other scripting languages.

Knowledge of PHP and MySQL.

In depth knowledge and experience of designing for mobile devices.

High proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or equivalent graphics software package.

Proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite.

Competent user of IT (including MS Office and Social Media).

Understanding of the technical architecture of Content Management Systems.

Knowledge and experience of Google Analytics and reporting on web and email activity, with the ability to interpret meaningful conclusions.

Knowledge and understanding of web hosting, administration and server setup, domain registration and settings.

Effective organisational skills to manage own work.

Strong skills in digital design and an awareness of current and upcoming design trends and technologies.

General marketing knowledge, plus the ability to use the web as a marketing tool.
