Role Responsibilities

  • Develop, co-ordinate and deliver integrated communications strategies to support strategic change programmes and service leads
  • Ensure effective engagement with key stakeholders and plan activities that demonstrate impact which are evaluated to deliver continuous improvement and support forward planning
  • Plan, research, and commission material (written, audio and video) for a range of communications channels as part of the strategic change programmes
  • Meet regularly with senior stakeholders to identify communications opportunities and threats, ensuring these are flagged to the broader Communications team as necessary
  • Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders on communications delivery, keeping them fully abreast of how their activities and supporting communications align with broader activities and communications
  • Work closely with Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement colleagues to produce engaging content for communications channels, as part of broader communications campaigns
  • Produce stimulating content that can be used across communications channels
  • Measure, analyse and evaluate methods of communications and channels to ascertain effectiveness and identify/deliver improvements where necessary
  • Communicate to senior stakeholders the effectiveness of current communications activities and advise on future approaches, including best practice communications to facilitate employee engagement and support staff during change
  • Work proactively to identify good news stories that will resonate with both internal and external audiences, building pride in the organisation
  • Responsible for the management of relevant project budgets and to ensure cost-effective recommendations for expenditure incurred with regards to communications
  • Support the Marketing, Recruitment and Engagement team in the recommendation and procurement of new digital technologies, to ensure the organisation remains at the forefront of digital communications
  • Identify PR opportunities and ensuring the effective production of news stories promoting activities.
  • Liaise with industry partners and other external stakeholders to maximise press and publicity opportunities
  • Acting as communications subject matter expert across the organisation, to proactively publicise key activities through a variety of media channels to ensure representation to staff, students and a variety of external stakeholders

Ideal Candidate

  • Degree in a related or equivalent field
  • Understanding of the theory, development and application of internal communications best practice
  • Experience of communications partnering
  • Experience of liaising and negotiating with a wide range of stakeholders, including those at senior levels
  • Experience of planning and delivering communications activities in a large, complex organisation
  • Experience of creating high quality content to engage staff audiences, including through digital channels
  • Experience of producing communications for a wide range of audiences and channels
  • Experience of developing innovative solutions to new challenges
  • Effective listening, questioning and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently, confident in your ability to execute sound communication advice
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication skills
  • High levels of computer literacy
  • Ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders verbally and in writing
  • Sound communications judgement
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, to challenging deadlines
  • Strong project management skills
  • Able to work occasional unsocial hours
  • Marketing or Communications qualifications or training
  • Experience of working in a Communications/PR Office
  • Experience of working with a content management system
