Let us explain. At Sainsbury’s, a customer or marketing proposition always makes a difference. It might be about helping people live well for less, or empowering them to discover ethically sourced products. And what we call our ‘properties’ (but you’ll probably know as sponsorships or branded partnerships) always seek to change the world.

Here are just a few examples. Our Active Kids vouchers enable schools and clubs to order brand new cooking and sports equipment, and experiences for the kids to enjoy. Nectar Card helps people to turn spending on their shopping into all sorts of treats - from a morning coffee, to money off a holiday. The there’s our partnership with Comic Relief. We’re proud to have played a big role in helping them to change lives since 1999. In 2017, we hit a major milestone - £100 million raised over 18 years of selling Red Nose Day goodies and colleague fundraising activities.

All this and more will be within your far-reaching remit as the leader of our Marketing Propositions and Properties team. It’s about taking exciting existing partnerships to the next level. And it’s about developing all manner of new, lovable and unforgettable propositions and properties.

Put simply, you’ll take commercial, brand and marketing strategies, assess the commercial environment and market context, and deliver compelling insights into what our marketing needs to talk about. Briefing communications experts, you’ll set objectives and scope that encourage deliciously difference approaches to marketing. Working with a host of specialist teams - from insight, to customer planning, to trading - you’ll inform customer-centric and commercially effective customer plan propositions. And of course you’ll work closely with marketing agencies to shape high level campaigns with nationwide impact.

The scope to bring new ideas to the table is as wide as the range of stakeholder relationships you’ll forge. In recognition of the impact you make, you’ll find all kinds of doors open for you here.

  • As a leader, you’ve got what it takes to manage and grow high performers
  • You’re equally happy talking marketing with store colleagues and creative agencies
  • Your love for our brand and customers matches your passion for marketing
  • Experience of sponsorship and partnerships, large consumer brands, and both agency and client side working would all be advantageous - but none is utterly essential
