Ground-breaking Software House near to Temple Meads in Bristol who produce award-winning, high quality and complex data-driven applications used worldwide are looking for a Senior Systems / Site Reliability Engineer to join their talented team.  They are expanding rapidly and looking for their first experienced and passionate engineer to help take them to the next level with their ingenious product suite.

What experience you'll need

They’ll need you to have a strong background in owning the infrastructure that underpins high-traffic live services.  Tools that you will have used could include Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Jenkins etc.  You’ll be expected to have a holistic DevOps approach and automate effectively whilst relishing the challenges of scaling infrastructure.  In terms of scripting, they’d like to see at least one of Bash, Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell, Tcl etc.  They’re moving from AWS to Google Compute Engine and will need your help with this, although time will be given for you to get up to speed with both.

What you'll be doing

Core responsibilities will include ensuring that the platform is able to perform exceptionally under high-load and rapidly scalable conditions.  Also key will be contributing to technical design discussions, automating deployment and configuration of the software stack and administering and evolving the engineering team environment.  Upcoming projects will include reviewing the infrastructure and formalising the roadmap for a growing customer-base and dockerising our applications and evaluating Kubernetes.  It’s possible that you could be involved in the scaling of their Golang and Python services and establishing operational policies and SLA’s.  They’ll trust in your skills so you will be given the freedom to implement best practice methods and to experiment with the latest technologies, enabling better automation for the current software engineers and ensuring they have complete site reliability and effective scaling.

What you'll get in return for your talents

In return you’ll benefit from ongoing personal development including an impressive training budget and access to industry events. You’ll also be welcomed into a positive office environment with an unrivalled sense of autonomy in the work place including flexible working hours and occasional remote work, so this really suits someone who is hardworking and independent and really loves to code.  Its high profile work that anyone would want in their portfolio so if you’ve got the right set of skills then expect somewhere between £50-60K in this role.  You can pick your own hardware and get involved in regular team socials and trips across our offices in Bristol and London.

What next?

To apply, please supply an up to date CV for a chance to be part of something special.  Any questions, Jack is dealing with this role, feel free to give him a call.
