They manage top-tier agencies, specialising in promoting innovative solutions in advertising, medical education, clinical trial programme development, sales and marketing, digital, market access, and medical and scientific affairs. The Planning Director position offers a fantastic opportunity to work across a variety of blue-chip healthcare clients within possibly the most well-known agency in the group. This position presents a rare opportunity to define, own and drive brand strategies across a wide client base to create multi-channel marketing campaigns that are driven by superior customer insights and clearly-defined client business goals. You’ll be a key member of the cross-functional European team from day one, and a member of the extended global account planning function across the agency.  You’ll also be directly and intimately involved in the strategy of the agency itself, working closely with the GM and senior leadership team to chart a course for the agency’s future. Ideally, you’ll be a superior strategic storyteller, capable of creating simple and compelling stories that connect customer insights to brand strategies.

To ensure the agency retains its competitive advantage in the wider healthcare market, the Planning Director will use and interpret insight and analytics more effectively.  As part of their desire to create creative work that Moves The World, they need someone bursting with ideas which can give their clients more effective marketing solutions.  In turn, getting the right person on board for this role will strengthen existing client relationships and allow them to build on their already successful portfolio of clients through pitches and RFIs.  This won’t be an easy ride as they’ll challenge you every step of the way – but you’ll be the sort of person who thrives on working in a fast-moving, commercial environment with demanding deadlines and you will relish being part of a talented, innovative and motivated team. 

Required Skills are a deep and broad experience of brand positioning and planning at a similar commercial level from within an agency environment; the ability to inspire great creative work through engaging and exciting briefs; ideally you will have some prior healthcare experience and be knowledgeable within the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry; experience of internal senior stakeholder management and senior client management is essential; experience of enabling implementation across all channels, including digital; ideally be someone with experience of (and an interest in) cognitive behavioural science; a self-starter who has a demonstrable ability of working on a wide range of accounts and projects and be able to take most client requests in your stride – with a calm approach regardless of the deadline; a working knowledge of industry-standard agency planning tools and processes; a Bachelor’s degree is required and an advanced degree in business (MBA) preferred; lastly you’ll have line-management responsibility.
