We’re looking for a Technical Architect to join one of the UK’s most innovative technology businesses at their centre of excellence easily reached from Bristol (40 mins) and Swindon (20 mins).  Working within their burgeoning connectivity research division, this global disrupter of the technical engineering industry is keen to conquer the Internet of Things (IoT) space and they have the expertise, ingenuity and financial backing to do just that.  

What experience you'll need

As Technical Architect it’ll be expected that you’ll have worked on complex cloud service development projects with strong skills with Node.js and C#.Net.  This role will focus on Cloud platform engineering and design to support their growing range of connected products.  They’d like you to have a detailed experience with MQTT and evolving IoT protocols and have worked with AWS including Lambda, AWS IoT, ECS and Docker.  Knowledge of UML and SysML would be beneficial along with Agile development and test experience and at least one Atlassian tool (JIRA, Bitbucket & Bamboo etc).  Beyond the technical, they’re keen to find highly passionate, creative innovators who can solve problems and enjoy working collaboratively.

What you'll be doing

You’ll be responsible for developing end-to-end solutions to complement a suite of ground-breaking connected products (four new ones on the way in the next 3 years!).  You’ll be interacting with team including product developers, electronics engineers, embedded software engineers and app developers to ensure solutions are functional, secure and easy to use. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary Connectivity Research Team, you will drive design of digital experiences for products integration with 3rd party cloud services and help structure and model data to enable growth. The role will consist of system architecture, modelling and prototyping to interact with mobile apps, web solutions and hardware using a range of technologies. Your work in scaling solutions to match the growing connected product range and user base will be key to success in this role as will your ability to pass on knowledge throughout the team and your strategic input in finding process improvements.
