Senior Web Developer - Manchester - £30-40k

One of Manchester's best-respected digital agencies is looking for an experienced and senior Web Developer to join their team, working with PHP, Javascript and front-end technologies.

You will work within a small team of developers, committed to a number of year-long projects for clients predominantly within the leisure sector. A number of these projects are brand new, so you have the opportunity to shape the team and decide the best technology to use on each project. You will be a Technical Architect, accountable for key decisions around system architecture that affect production, operations, scalability, load and maintainability. You will be a hands-on developer, acting as a role model to more junior developers, while being responsible for estimating and breaking down tasks.

To be considered for this role, you must have at least 4 years' commercial experience, having held a mid or senior level development role and ideally managed more junior staff (not essential). You will have a keen understanding of web technologies, with practical experience of building applications using both PHP and JavaScript. You will be familiar with Dev Ops and concepts such as immutable infrastructure and Pets vs. Cattle. You will have been exposed to Agile/Lean environments and be able to act as an example to others in the team, so they are confident in doing things right. Any of the following would be nice to have:

  • Worked with Wordpress, developing your own themes and plugins
  • Experience of Symfony 2 MVC framework
  • Git, Doctrine, SASS or jQuery experience
  • OO JavaScript

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and ambitious developer to join a talented and lovely team, working across interesting projects within an environment that promotes ideas and creativity.
