Media Relations Officer , South West London and Middlesex, paying between £31k and £39k

Your new company

This job is for an NHS trust in London which is famous for specialising in Cardiology. The trust is split between two hospitals in South West London and Middlesex. You will be based 4 days a week at the South West London Hospital and one day a week at the Middlesex Hospital. There is a free shuttle bus between the two sites.

Your New Role

You will support the deputy head of communications through supporting media enquiries and by providing media support in crisis situations. You will create media strategies and seek news stories which build on the reputation, and showcase the work of the Trust. You will develop relationships with journalists. You will take responsibility of the media area of the intranet and website. You will ensure social media channels are kept up to date including twitter postings. You will coordinate visits from VIPs, which may include ministerial visits. You will ensure all press releases are uploaded onto the Trusts website in a timely manner. You will oversee the work of the communications assistant. Finally, you will Take on-call responsibilities when necessary (one week of week nights in three and one weekend in three).

What you will need to succeed

You will have good track record of media relations with at least two years' experience. You will be able to demonstrate where you have built good relationships with journalists and local or national media. You will be able to show evidence of when you have been able to develop a story and gain media attention for it. You will be competent at writing press releases with sound proofing skills. Finally, you will be flexible and are able to work out of normal office hours on call.
