It’s not every day that you stumble across the opportunity to join a great business, with a really solid brand proposition behind it and a huge appetite for growth through their digital channels that are looking for someone just like you to take the reins of their end-to-end eCommerce and digital marketing activity to be the be the one tasked with taking them on that journey. But then today must just be one of those days…

What you’ll be doing

This is a new role ultimately to fully develop the eCommerce function, and working alongside our data and offline marketing manager. We see your initial focus on SEO - optimising the website (improving and restructuring navigation, categorisation, copy and attributes). Then acting as a one-person eCommerce function, you will pick up responsibility for the whole thing end to end – driving site traffic through a multichannel digital marketing strategy, optimising conversion, web trading and merchandising, managing digital media channels, and leveraging the power of their catalogue marketing background to drive more sales online – you’ll be owning the whole digital piece. You’ll be inheriting a solid business, currently turning over in the region of £5m through the online channel and will be tasking with seeing a significant (very significant, think more than ten-fold) increase in that figure. With all the necessary support and investment, of course, but you’ll need to be the driving force for digital innovation within the business.

What experience you’ll need

You will need to have a demonstrable track record of taking at least one business through significant revenue growth through their online channel. You will have solid hands-on online merchandising and web trading experience, together with web management and analytics, and digital marketing (PPC, SEO, email marketing) skills. You will ideally have experience in terms of being a digital and eCommerce evangelist in a business that has (to their own admission) not traditionally been as digital-savvy as they should or could be, and will know how to overcome the challenges that this could throw up. A balance between strategic understanding and hands-on application. If you have experience of leading a team, even better, as this will absolutely be a part of your role longer term.

What you’ll get in return for your talents

We’re most likely looking around £40k for this role, however this is going to be very flexible depending on the person – so please don’t be put off if you’re lower or higher than this. There is also a huge (really – a huge) opportunity to make a marked difference here and you’ll be playing a leading role in an exciting journey. We can also offer a friendly team, lovely office and a hugely ambitious brand.
