Head of Internal Communications to join a renowned railway company. This position involves crafting and executing the Internal Communications & Engagement Strategy to animate our purpose, mission, vision, and achievements. Serving as an internal business partner, you will lead and execute campaigns and initiatives throughout the organization. Offering counsel to the Executive Team, Professional Homes, and Programs and Projects, you will provide guidance on all facets of internal communications and engagement. Your focus will include a forward-looking perspective aligning with the company’s delivery and values over the mid to long term.

Some of what you will be doing:

  • Create and implement the comprehensive Internal Communications and Engagement Strategy for the organisation.
  • Develop and execute the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) to uphold the mission, vision, purpose, and behaviours.
  • Collaborate with the People and Transformation Community to foster and embed the organisational culture.
  • Establish a distinct internal identity with a defined style and tone of voice.
  • Design internal engagement initiatives that encourage employee participation and ensure their voices are heard.
  • Develop and execute compelling internal communications campaigns that align with the business plan and vision.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with the Executive Team and their respective teams, understanding their activities and requirements for internal communications and engagement support.
  • Take charge of the Internal Communications Professional Home.
  • Lead and support direct reports, fostering individual growth, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and update relevant systems.

  • Proven expertise in Internal Communications, showcasing a track record of success.
  • Adaptable to a dynamic and fast-paced environment, thriving in conditions of constant change.
  • Skilled in event design, facilitation, and management, bringing valuable experience to the table.
  • Exceptional communication skills, encompassing outstanding written, editing, oral, and presentation abilities.
  • Proficient in MS Office products and other tools like SharePoint and design software.
  • Quick and adept at adopting new technologies and exploring diverse software systems with ease.
  • Hands-on experience in intranets, collaboration tools, and possibly employee communication apps.
  • Collaborative mindset, enthusiastic about supporting the broader business objectives.
  • Capable of contributing positively and diplomatically challenging viewpoints, adept at engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Genuine concern for people’s interests, emphasizing a people-centric communication approach.
  • Flexible delivery style tailored for different audiences and purposes.
