The Role

This role sits in the UK team and is an integral part of the Digital Operations Team. They are the lead for digital and audience development in the UK and part of the Global Audience Development team. Helping to realise commercial and brand aims by aligning search and social growth efforts with business objectives. The Head of Audience Development evangelises a data-driven approach to content production and content amplification by encouraging experimentation before sharing success stories and making sure that the wider business can benefit from distributed information on best practice and repeatable strategies and tactics

More about the role

·        Maintain a strong relationship between the business and relevant providers, from Audience Development-related tools to social networks to keep abreast of any industry updates / opportunities for the business, in order to measure their impact

·        Building and developing a centre of excellence to champion social media, search optimisation and paid distribution, in particular setting up a strong and coordinated group across the International businesses to benefit both the territory as well as the brand overall

·        Identify potential revenue streams for the business through emerging social products

·        Recommendation of suitable social media and SEO tools for rollout

·        Working with commercial teams to help realise and exceed campaign goals

·        Work with related stakeholders on branded content strategy and delivery, ensuring profitable growth for commercial activity

·        Communicate successes, whether editorial or commercial, to ensure learnings are applied to future content propositions

·        Commercial campaign management: optimise deliverables to ensure the best business return on investment

·        Stay updated on brand output on social media channels in order to help drive audience growth on and off site by inputting into social media strategy

·        To support the commercial team with content marketing on social media and content discovery platforms, advising on KPIs and content strategies for new pitches

·        Working with editorial to incorporate search optimisation and social best practice into every day strategy

·        To share regular social, search and content best practice updates with both the editorial and commercial business units, as well as the Global Audience Development Group

·        To compile analytics reports and furnish commercial and business teams with data to understand performance and bolster proposals

·        Lead and manage a team; proactively developing each individual to identify and fill skillset gaps and thereby improve delivery and business outcomes

·        Support all staff across the company who may / should engage in audience development activities, especially Social Media and Video, to ensure competence and best practise  

Ideal Background

·        Ideally you will be from a B2C background with experience of leading digital strategy within a fast-paced content led environment.

·        Experienced within an online environment with ideal sectors including media, publishing, beauty, fashion, retail.

·        Sound experience of using Audience Development tools as well as social media analytics tools to maximise reach

·        Experience managing teams is advantageous

·        Experience supporting brand strategies and advice on best strategic use of social communications to achieve objectives

·        Keen to improve processes and learn best practice; uses processes to deliver desired business impact, doesn’t introduce process for the sake of it

·        An effective communicator able to build and maintain relationships at all levels

·        Ability to balance competing priorities and prioritise multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, able to guide others to do this also
