Middleweight Copywriter

Bluetree are working for a fabulous B2B Marketing agency that is made up of a very close knit team who specialise in finding creative but practical solutions to all kinds of marketing problems.  They are incredibly proud of the work they produce coming up with novel solutions to even the most difficult of problems.

They are looking to recruit a Midweight Copywriter to join their team whose main focus will be to produce high-quality written content for their clients, adapting structure, content and tone to different deliverables, clients and target audience.  The content may include brochures, whitepapers, websites, sales guides, cheat sheets, marketing plans, emails and presentations.

Key activities:

The copywriter’s time will typically be split into five areas of the role.

Dealing with clients

  • Taking briefs
  • Quoting for projects working with Content director and Client services director
  • Discussing feedback


  • Doing desk research
  • Interviewing subject-matter experts
  • Processing source data to extract insight


  • Producing document structures
  • Drafting documents
  • Amending drafts accordingly in response to manager and client feedback
  • Proofreading final drafts
  • Working with designers to revise copy to fit into artwork

Scheduling / admin

  • Liaising with project managers about plans and timings
  • Helping designers to find appropriate photography and create accurate diagrams


  • Discussing other writer’s projects to offer help and ideas
  • Writing blog posts and contributing to the company’s marketing
  • Learning about and sharing news about technology, business and writing
  • Adding to the research library

Copywriters will be targeted to meet objectives in these key areas:

Quality of work

  • Structure - logic, flow, narrative, efficiency
  • Content - use of material provided, supplementary material found, and demonstration of technical and business knowledge
  • Style - appropriateness of language to audience and deliverable; quality of spelling, punctuation, grammar
  • Consistency and attention to detail - within and between documents, and adherence to templates and style guides
  • Creativity - generating ideas for how clients can get their message across


  • Timeliness - hitting deadlines agreed, balancing conflicting demands from multiple clients and reporting on progress
  • Efficiency - working within our budgets; commercial awareness


  • Client service - being helpful, constructive and responsive in dealings with customers
  • Collaboration - helping teammates with their problems and being flexible to changing business needs


  • At least 75% of hours billable

Specific targets may be set on an individual basis and will be assessed as appropriate by the copywriter’s manager.


Copywriters will be expected to use:

  • Microsoft Office
  • Adobe InDesign
  • Google Apps
  • Smart sheet​
