Main purpose of job

  • Support for the development and delivery of Digital Fundraising strategy
    • Responsible for maximising Fundraising income generated through digital products, platforms, campaigns and services
    • Organisational expert on digital income generation, able to advise the Fundraising Leadership Team members, their senior managers and staff more widely on innovation, channel development and best digital practice in the Fundraising industry
    • Management and development of the Society's Digital Fundraising platforms, products and services, as defined by the Head of Digital
    • Management of Digital Fundraising projects (and contribution to appropriate Society projects more generally)
    • Line management responsibility for Digital Fundraising Executives
    • Expert in Digital Fundraising for staff across the Society
    • Works with external agencies and suppliers
    • Line management responsibility
    • Budget management responsibility

Duties and key responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of the Society's Digital Fundraising across digital platforms, products and services, as defined by the Director of Fundraising and the Head of Digital
  • Support the development and delivery of Digital Fundraising Strategy
  • Be the organisational expert on digital income generation, able to advise the Fundraising Leadership Team members, their senior managers and Society staff more widely on innovation, channel development and best digital practice in the Fundraising industry
  • Devise and manage delivery of a wide range of effective Digital Fundraising campaigns
  • Work with Digital Marketing/Marketing to ensure paid search engine marketing activity is optimised to achieve fundraising objectives while ensuring all campaigns are managed to budget and maximise ROI
  • Manage the delivery of multiple projects to agreed specifications and deadlines
  • Gather business requirements for Digital Fundraising projects with key stakeholders, producing high-level project requirements and cost projections
  • Produce and maintain all project documentation throughout the project life-cycle e.g. project plans and progress reports
  • Work with the Digital team to ensure the fundraising sections of the Society's digital portfolio are up to date, optimised for search engines and have appropriate content
  • Work with Digital Marketing to encourage fundraising teams to use social media to promote fundraising campaigns and recruitment of supporters
  • Resolve/respond to any queries or complaints relating to our Digital Fundraising activities, methods and online payment systems

Person specification Education and qualifications

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent professional/technical qualification
  • Significant experience of working in a digital fundraising environment
  • Significant experience of managing teams
  • Knowledge of latest trends in digital fundraising and digital technology, and emerging trends

Skills and experience

  • Significant experience in digital fundraising and/or marketing
  • Proven digital fundraising/marketing experience showing a practical understanding of the implementation, analysis and management of large campaigns
  • The ability to translate digital strategies into best-in-class and/or innovative digital fundraising products, platforms and services
  • Demonstrable experience of managing third-party suppliers, including pro bono work, on the delivery of platforms, products and expertise
  • Experience of managing budgets for small-to-large scale projects across a range of suppliers
  • Understanding of accessibility issues for websites, including the W3C accessibility standards and DDA compliance
  • Experience of Google Analytics, PPC, SEO and SEM
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Photoshop and awareness of other programming languages such as jQuery and PHP
  • Excellent management skills; with the ability to inspire and engage others
  • Excellent project management skills in Agile/Waterfall/Prince 2 or blended approach
  • Excellent presentation, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex digital terminology into clear and concise language
  • Thorough understanding of data protection legislation
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand and apply: user testing, insight, analytics
  • A well organised and resilient self-starter and problem-solver with a passion for digital
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and engage staff and volunteers across the organisation in understanding the power and value of digital
