Director of Defence Communications
Attracted to the idea of one of the highest profile communications roles at the heart of government?
The Ministry of Defence is looking to recruit to a critical role to contribute directly to the outcomes, enhanced capabilities and efficiencies set out in the Strategic Defence and Security Review 2015 (by driving forward the Departmental Defence Communities Change Programme.
As the Communications Director you will be responsible for the leadership of a 100-strong Directorate as well as functional leadership of 450 communicators across Defence, and you will play a leadership role in the functional leadership of the Government Communication Service.
You will promote digital and social leadership; but also develop strategies that support our workforce to engage better with and respond to senior leadership, and to the challenges within which our military and civilian colleagues work. In the role you will act as a visible leader who has a working knowledge of new and traditional media, in addition to this, have experience in a full range of communications activity.
The work will enable the Ministry of Defence to build credibility with institutions and the society we serve and represent. In addition you will be instrumental in helping the Ministry of Defence to implement an effective Communication Strategy that maintains and improves internal and external awareness, reputation and understanding of the Ministry of Defence, the Armed Forces and their operations, joint organisations and Defence Agencies.
