The opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Content Marketing Executive to join the Markel team in Manchester. The Direct division offer specialist insurance directly to small businesses, the self-employed, tradespeople, charities and community groups. We offer a range of industry-specific cover, including professional indemnity, public liability and employers’ liability, which are specially designed to cover the risks our customers face. We sell our products directly to customers online or through our call centre, as well as through white label partnerships. We operate through two brands – Markel Direct and Caunce O’Hara – both of which are long established and respected in the small business insurance market.Nearly 50,000 customers trust us to protect their business every year, and we’re proud of the high levels of service we provide to our customers. We’re on an exciting growth journey, with plans to more than double the size of our business between now and 2025. To achieve this, we’re looking for a Senior Content Marketing Executive to join our growing marketing team.

What you’ll be doing:

• Create engaging content that drives customer engagement and supports organic search activity in our target sectors
• Develop content in a range of mediums, including blog posts, expert articles, video, webinars and interactive client tools
• Work closely with the Campaign Manager and Digital Marketing Manager to support campaign and search activity
• Develop and manage a central content calendar and content marketing strategy
• Provide content marketing design support
• Support strategic partners and introducers with content for marketing our insurance products to their client base
• Introduce a measurement framework for content performance and report on activity and results
• Adhere to brand guidelines, compliance requirements and Financial Promotion sign off processes

Our must have’s:

• Experience in insurance or financial services (preferred, but not essential)
• 3+ years working in copywriting, creative or design roles
• A talent for turning complex topics into easy-to-understand content
• A focus on attention to detail
• A track record of producing content in a range of mediums
• Excellent communication skills, attention to detail and customer-focus
• Drive and enthusiasm for meeting deadlines
• Understanding of social channels and basic photo editing software (e.g. Canva)
