Professional Services Sales Person

My client, an innovative and growing accountancy firm is currently looking to hire a business development executive into their team to support the BD Director and to directly assist with the continued growth of the business.

The role of BD Executive or professional services salesman is a combination of sales and marketing. You will be identifying your B2B target clients, engaging them via marketing messages, communications, events or just good old fashioned cold calling. You will be looking to engage with the decision makers, start building relationships, understand their requirements and challenges within the professional lives and ultimately address those challenges with solutions provided by your employer.

 What this is not is a KPI driven environment, a beat the drum and make 100 calls a day kind of job. Professional service sales is all about building relationships and understanding your client therefore the role includes marketing communications, digital communications, research and sector knowledge, thought leadership, event management, relationship management and yes…it also involves cold calling.

Therefore the ideal person for this role will be someone who is not afraid of picking up the phone and dialing the number of a business they have not interacted with before. You need to be able to navigate your way through the gate keepers, identify the decision maker and engage them. You will ideally have worked in a business service or professional service sales role previously but this is not essential – what is essential is phone and face to face based sales. Also it is key that you come from an environment where you are going out to find the sales not having the customer come to you – this is B2B sales and therefore you need to be the hunter in this instance.
