Job Role

Responsibilities of the role:

* Improve the generation of business from new and existing clients;
* Enhance our standing with our major clients, prospects and new joiners; and
* Build the profile of the departments in the legal marketplace.

* Work with partners to identify, facilitate, track and monitor the pursuit of
significant new business opportunities;
* Develop strong relationships with lawyers in each practice so that they are viewed
as a trusted advisor;
* Assist in the implementation of a range of targeting and cross-selling initiatives in
support of our departmental and sector focuses;
* Undertake gap analysis and targeting activities;
* Identify topics for thought leadership and design supporting campaigns;
* Assist, support and help drive the firm's key client programme;
* Liaise with the Communications team and working with the PSLs, oversee the
directory submission process and awards submissions for the departments;
* Strengthen the BD skills of the department's lawyers and raise awareness of the
support the BD team can provide;
* Enhance the reputation of the BD team within the firm for its professionalism and
for the strategic and distinctive value it gives;
* Be a contributor to the vision and strategy of the BD function, assist with BD
projects/cross-selling of the BD function within the firm;
* Assist in developing the BD team's expertise and responsibilities based on the
needs of the departments and the team's career aspirations; and
* Liaise with other BD & PSL professionals across the firm.

Candidate specification:

* Approximately three years' experience working in a BD role in a professional
services environment, preferably within a law firm, although we will consider
applications from candidates with less or more experience than stated provided
they are able to demonstrate successful delivery of the required tasks outlined
above in a previous role/capacity;
* Commercially astute with a track record of growing existing and new business; and
* Proficient systems skills (experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience in
Interaction would be ideal though not necessary.

* Builds strong, effective relationships with partners and colleagues at all levels;
* Is proactive and drives forward objectives and actions of the BD team to meet the
commercial needs of the firm;
* Identifies opportunity for change and influences accordingly;
* Creates a strong sense of belonging within a group;
* Encourages team solutions to problems;
* Creates, adapts and communicates business plans to prioritise and re-prioritise
changes and needs of each department;
* Creative, lateral thinker, intelligent and commercially-minded;

* Good organisation and presentation skills;
* Good advocacy/influencing skills.
