Business Development Manager
NEW Business Development Manager role in leading Global law firm.
The Business Development Manager (BDM) serves as a business development liaison primarily to the London and Munich office practices (including corporate/M&A, private equity, finance, capital markets, investment funds, litigation and regulatory). S/He reports to the Director of Marketing - Europe (Director) and works actively with the Director and the partners in the region (and across various offices worldwide when required) to develop and execute clear strategies and business plans, and manage an aligned range of business development and marketing initiatives.
Projects may include: securing panel and other appointments through the submission of written proposals/pitches; directing and assisting with the maintenance of business development and marketing collateral for the region's practice groups (including experience databases); preparing and supervising directory submissions; working with practice group leaders to monitor progress against planned priorities. S/he takes an active role in learning about the practices in the region and developing the groups' and the firm's internal knowledge about its clients and business in order to foster cross-selling.
Working closely with the London-based Marketing Manager for Europe, the BDM develops coordinated business development strategies and marketing campaigns to expand client relationships and raise the profile of the firm in London/Europe. In addition, the BDM works with the other members of the European marketing team and colleagues in other offices on a variety of projects.
The BDM has managerial and mentoring responsibility for a Business Development Specialist in London.
The role requires the development of strong and effective working relationships with the marketing team, lawyers and support staff. It is essential that the BDM is a self-starter who works well in a team as well as independently.
Successful candidates will have previous experience of working in law firms and/or strategic planning, sales, market assessment or positioning in the professional services industry. You will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and priorities and take initiative to drive projects. You will have strong organisational skills for your workload as well as direct reports' workload and excellent writing and proofreading skills. You will also have familiarity and experience with client relationship management and research databases such as InterAction, CapitalIQ, Mergermarket, Debtwire, OneSource, Relationship Science and other resources.
