PR officer job in Oxfordshire on a 14 month contract.
Your new company
A well-known scientific government funded organisation's communication team based in Wallingford are needing someone to help raise the organisations profile across the UK and key global geographies in line with their science strategy.
Your new role
You will work with the Communication Manager to develop and implement plans to develop the external profile of the organisation. You will be the primary point of contact internally and externally for all press relations activity and will head up our Press Office function.
You'll populate their editorial calendar; liaise with a range of scientists to create compelling newsworthy environmental science stories; and handle day-to-day media queries. You'll regularly liaise with, and distribute press releases to, targeted media, and syndicate news via their corporate website and social media channels. You'll also take a lead on monitoring and reporting on our media coverage.
What you'll need to succeed
This role would suit an experienced journalist, PR Manager or in house press officer with experience in a scientific or technical setting. To succeed you will have crisis communication and proactive PR experience with exceptional copywriting skills.
Ideally you will also have significant online social media experience with experience of a content management system like Drupal.
