One of our friends in the heart of the South-West is looking for a Managing Director to take the reins of a thriving eCommerce operation. An established leader in their field, this would be managing a business of significant size end to end including eCommerce strategy, team management, order processing, packing and distribution. A rare, challenging role, but a lovely one to get stuck into in this location.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll report into and work closely with the Chief Executive to define the needs of the online proposition, translating this into set goals which will form the basis of your eCommerce strategy. New websites, product ranges, services, ordering and supply chain – all these areas will fall into your remit so the key will be integrating all these areas successfully to grow the business as a whole.
Starting with the eCommerce team, you’ll manage the eCommerce Manager and Digital Marketing agency to enhance the customer journey, sales process, SEO, PPC, content, pricing and system stability/resilience. Other teams include order processing and packing and distribution; how does this link to eCommerce and are the right processes in place to deliver success? This brings us on to product development. Experience in this market isn’t necessary (they have a go-to professional on-board for this), it’s more to do with competitor and customer analysis. What areas can the business tap into to drive new growth, in addition to squeezing revenue from their existing offering? Finally, you’ll have full ownership of eCommerce P&L and marketing spend, ensuring this heads in the right direction and illustrates the fruits of your labour.

What experience you’ll need

The right candidate will have a wealth of experience in B2C eCommerce channels and how this ties into the full customer journey and full multichannel piece. Essentially, someone who understands the areas beyond online acquisition and conversion such as ordering, customer service and delivery (all the areas matched to the teams above really). The ideal will be a Head of eCommerce/Digital or MD that has an understanding of these additional areas, has managed P&L, and evidenced a clear progression in online turnover through a holistic eCommerce strategy.

What you’ll get in return for your talents

As mentioned in the opening description, this is a rare leadership position with a business at the forefront of their market. You’ll be rewarded with a competitive salary (dependent on experience) alongside a strong benefits package – confidential at this stage but details to be shared on enquiry.
