Reporting to the Group Client Director or Director, you will be a senior leader within this business. You will be responsible for developing market-leading campaigns for their clients, creating ideas that will win with shoppers and developing strategies that will deliver results.

Key day to day responsibilities include:

1. Idea generation & strategy development: Running 'campaign laboratory' sessions with internal stakeholders to develop insight-led, idea-driven marketing campaigns for their clients. Working alongside colleagues in creative to build engaging ideas that will resonate with shoppers and with the client teams to ensure they're meeting the needs of the brief.

2. Building the client response: Working with others internally to craft a compelling story to their clients, clearly demonstrating their approach and rationale, supported by research and data where possible. You will act as the guardian of the agency's output, ensuring that all their responses are of a consistently high quality.

3. Team management: You will lead a small team of direct reports, who could range in level from Planning Associate to Planning Manager. This will be all-encompassing, from creating & managing their workplans, through to performance reviews and delivering on the job coaching.

4. Pitch team leadership: You will have dedicated time in your work plan to lead responses on new business pitches. You will set the direction for the team, project managing the process and pulling upon expertise from around the business as required to give the best possible chance of success.

5. Development of tools and materials: Creating and deploying tools needed for the organisation to run effectively, to minimise duplication and ensure consistency of output. This includes everything from agency credentials to agency marketing materials and internal training sessions.

6. Building cross-team collaboration: You will work particularly closely with your colleagues in the creative department, writing inspirational briefs that build brilliant visual responses for clients. You will also build relationships with your counterparts in the client team, ensuring they deliver outstanding internal service and continue to exceed their clients' expectations. You will contribute to upskilling and fuelling the teams with relevant insight, training and external influences in order to continually improve their work.

7. Contribution to organisational projects: This is a young business, growing fast. Whether it's leading training and development efforts or managing the PR and marketing agenda, their expectation is that you'll get stuck in and help them to build an outstanding business.

What skills are we looking for?

My client is looking for an experienced hire who can demonstrate clear marketing knowledge and expertise - this could either come from work in a senior agency-side planning or strategy role, or from the client-side. Previous experience in media planning or planning shopper campaigns could be an advantage, but is not essential.
