Head of eCommerce / Online

Purple Monkey Recruitment are working with a fashion retailer, selling aspirational and fashion forward outerwear to a global market both online and through a network of high-end boutiques and department stores worldwide. 

The Head of eCommerce / Online will have ownership of the online shops, and will be accountable for the optimal commercial interpretation and implementation of the brand’s strategy and vision across the online experience.

Leveraging all data and insight available, this role will be accountable for identifying, recommending and delivering strategic and tactical ecommerce initiatives, ultimately driving conversion and profitable growth for the brand.

 As Head of eCommerce / Online you will: 

  • Lead optimisation of the website transactional functionality to increase sales and service on all platforms
  • Responsible for developing ecommerce brand roadmap, liaising with senior management to ensure all KPIs are met in the most effective and efficient way
  • Setting decisive and well-reasoned development priorities to deliver maximum commercial benefit
  • Ensure that products and services delivered meet the objectives set against them; including quality, timescales and budget
  • Carryout and facilitate post implementation analysis
  • Motivate, engage and influence a small high-performing, multi-discipline team
  • Work cross departmentally with Operations, Marketing and Press to ensure the delivery of the ecommerce Strategy.

Fundamentally this role will be responsible for delivering and managing an easy to use, commercially engaging and creative online experience.


Knowledge, Skills, Experience:

  • At least 5 years retail ecommerce management experience
  • Managing and directing website development, technical and aesthetic, navigation, performance and functionality efforts to positively impact ecommerce efforts
  • Excellent analytical skills – able to interpret extensive data to make actionable recommendations to the business
  • Ability to exercise sound judgement and commercial acumen
  • Ability to measure and demonstrate the value added by the products and initiatives
  • Experience of web analytic tools
  • Able to engage, motivate and influence ecommerce team
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Extremely organised with excellent project management skill
  • A background in digital design / fashion / Magento would be advantageous
