Working for an award-winning consumer brand in a fast moving,diverse digital team, this consultant will be charged with protecting the reputation of this organisations brand within the social media environment.

The Social Media Consultant will work closely with the Digital team, the Brand Group and more broadly across the organisation.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring user-generated content e.g. comments, photos and videos that are uploaded to the organisation's social network pages and online communities agree with Terms of Use and Community Guidelines; removing inappropriate content and managing problem users
- Encouraging discussion within the organisations online communities and responding to user questions, concerns and feedback, according to client guidelines and requirements
- Assisting with the production of regular client reports on community activity statistics, key issues, feedback, trends and insights
- Ad hoc escalation of urgent issues, customer service or technical questions, and moderation policy queries
- Co-ordinate multiple departments who generate content on a daily basis
- Optimise content (tags etc) for sharing sites like YouTube/Flickr and search engines through copywriting, creative & keyword research

Brand protection and promotion:
- Protect and promote the organisation brand through social media
- Identify threats and opportunities in user generated content surrounding the brand, manage
accordingly and report to the appropriate parties
- Work closely with other marketing and communications professionals throughout the company to
ensure the brand guidelines are reflected in the look and feel and tone of voice of the content
developed for our social media properties

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Experience in advertising, PR, online marketing or similar field
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and an ability to work individually on a project
or in a team environment
- A good understanding of online user habits, idiosyncrasies, and slang/colloquialisms
- Strong editing skills
- Confident user of social networks and forum tools e.g. Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, MySpace,
Bebo, Wordpress, vBulletin, phpBB etc
- Ability to jump from the creative side of marketing to analytical side, able to demonstrate why
ideas are analytically sound
- Knowledge of search engine optimisation including keyword research
- Ability to communicate with non-technical persons
- Confident, self-motivated and versatile with a proactive and highly-organised approach to work
- An ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines, as well as flexibility and adaptability in
order to support the team at all levels

Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products, email and messenger
- Strong experience in use of online collaboration tools
- Possesses functional knowledge or some experience with web technologies experience with online publishing and content management tools
- Good working knowledge / understanding of HTML, web standards and accessibility useful but
not essential
