Less that one-third would wait until offer stage
A recent poll conducted on behalf of Eastern and Central marketing and communications recruitment company,Brand Recruitment, asked when during an interview process is it best to discuss the package?
The results were quite surprising as less than one-third (31%) said they would wait until the offer stage, whilst nearly the same number (28%) said they would raise the subject before any meeting had taken place.
The divide might indicate that many jobseekers would rather risk sounding ‘mercenary’ in favour of upfront knowledge, whilst others would prefer to showcase themselves during the process but risk the package not matching expectations. One respondent commented that the package should be discussed “as early as possible. It’s a waste of everyone’s time if you progress to later stages, and can’t resolve a non negotiable factor.”
